So what is Christian Yoga?
First yoga itself is not a religion but a health methodology. Pilate’s and ballet are also methodologies. Yoga has been around since pre-historic times. It can be practiced by any religion or no religion at all. A little more recently Hindu and Buddhist traditions have codified this yoga to go with their theology. Christian yoga simply combines our theology with the methodology of yoga.
As Christians we are free to pray, meditate and use our bodies as forms of worship. Our classes will are Bible based and will include prayer, scripture verses, Christian music etc. All to glorify God. Think of it as a way for the body, mind, and soul to meet the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I hope this journey of Christian yoga blesses you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have regarding Christian yoga or any other health and wellness concern. I’d be happy to help!
Yoga Therapy vs. Regular Yoga — What’s the Difference?
-
Yoga is generally taught in group classes with a focus on fitness, flexibility, or relaxation.
-
Yoga Therapy is a personalized, one-on-one or small-group approach that uses yoga postures, breathwork, meditation, and lifestyle guidance to address specific health conditions or goals.
-
Yoga therapy is evidence-informed and tailored to the individual, often complementing medical or mental health care.
-
At Above All Wellness, yoga therapy is also faith-integrated, weaving Scripture and prayer into the healing process.
